The Windermere District Farmers' Institute and Livestock Association (WDFI) represents the interest of the agricultural community from Canal Flats to Golden. It was incorporated in 1914 and has been in continuous operation ever since. The WDFI supports local agriculture in many ways. An important ongoing project is the establishment of a community abattoir.
