The National Farmers Union - Ontario is a direct-membership organization that believes that locally owned family farms must be the cornerstone of our food system, providing safe, nutritious food to all Canadians. The NFU-O is unique among farm organizations in working to protect Canadian interests against global corporate control of our farming and food system.
The NFU-O works on the principles of food sovereignty, which call for a food system that values farmers and what they grow; rebuilds relationships between food producers and those who eat; reclaims local decision- making about food production and environmental protection; and strengthens connections between people and the land.
