The Basin Business Advisors program, serving the Columbia Basin (i.e. the Kootenays),realizes that operating a profitable farm requires a different set of skills than running a bricks and mortar store or a service business. We have Advisors and consultants who specialize in helping agricultural producers with the business of operating their farm. Growing or producing the product efficiently is just the start of operating a successful farm business. We can help you with the business of agriculture.
Our objective is to work with primary producers throughout the Columbia Basin to help strengthen their businesses. We provide free, one-on-one, confidential business counselling and assessment services to help identify issues and opportunities.
This may include an hour or two of bouncing ideas off our experienced Advisor, or it might mean extended time working with you to delve deeper into your operation in order to provide recommendations and plans that you can execute in order to be more efficient and profitable.
Common areas of support include:
financial analysis;
cost of production analysis;
market research and marketing;
developing “go to market” plans;
business and strategic planning;
distribution analysis;
human resources;
general business viability; and
others.
Funded by Columbia Basin Trust since 2000, the BBA program has been building economic capacity in Basin communities by providing support to Basin businesses—encouraging newly established businesses to grow and prosper and contributing to the successful management of ongoing businesses.
