Awaken Permaculture Farm is a multidisciplinary farm that starts with a strong focus on unique culinary and medicinal herbs, supplying local restaurants, markets, direct-sale, herbalists, and more. Awaken Permaculture farm will also supply Awaken Naturals when capacity is high enough (www.awakennaturals.com), of which Awaken Permaculture Farm is a part-owner and partner. This farm will focus on those who live on the land, growing beautiful and functional harvests, and supporting local social enterprises with products and space to use. Expansion possibilities are numerous, depending on owners of land: Partnership with local VIU university to teach permaculture on the land, apprenticeships/mentorships with local mentors on herbalism, permaculture, ecological farming, and more. I am looking to grow in a permaculture way, being as efficient as possible, building soil, growing diverse species to create resilience. Looking to grow all sorts of herbs, vegetables, berries, and other products, for sale as CSA, restaurants, and local grocery stores. We will seek to partner with, build on-site or off-site, or otherwise obtain use of a commercial kitchen to make value-added direct-to-consumer products such as herbal pesto, herbal supplements, etc. Also interested in animal husbandry as an option, but not required. Possibilities include pigs, chickens, cattle, or bison. Looking for a living space, farm space, and area where we can set up a maker space workshop to repair/build what we need on-site where possible.
Ideally it is fenced, ideally it has a greenhouse, ideally it has a lot of things, all are optional. We do require some living space, and otherwise will make use of the land as it is, bring in temporary structures as the landlord is willing, and utilize what is possible. Fenced growing space is key. We are willing to put some improvements on the land if there is a good agreement in place, and to do as much repair and maintenance as is reasonable and required.
