It has 1000 m of shoreline, and borders an extensive wooded property on the east, a developed neighbour site on the west side, and upstream is the MWCk watershed under tenure control by both the Crown and First Nations. The Niwatame Homestead is an emerging and unique eco-enterprise in the Rocky Mtn foothills. The property is situated on the shores of Moberly Lake, in north-east BC. Proprietor Reg has lived in the Peace region since 1991, where he has operated an environmental, community development and land-use planning consultancy. Reg also enjoys cultural pursuits in music and international travel. He also created and supports to a non-profit organization: which promotes eco-friendly livelihood diversification and support for food, water and energy security.
Looking for a couple of young agrarians (couple preferred, pets ok) interested in supporting the property’s permaculture plan including market garden, berry production and other forest farming activities. Seeking situation for year-round tenant for 3 year term with comfortable and winterized 2 BR lakeshore cottage. Accommodation can include partial work exchange basis for property improvements, and include building renovations. Preference will be for candidates with farm and construction experience, mechanical maintenance ability and supply of small garden tractor for winter plowing and cultivation.
