Farm Project Description
I have a background in architecture and construction, small business, and project management. Therefore, an ideal situation would be on a plot of land with no zoning regulations with the intention to establish a self-sustaining community built on a foundation of sound planning and farm management principles including sustainable land-use, food production, water and waste management, and energy independence.
Given that the goals I have set out could easily span 20 or more years, I am willing to begin with more modest ambitions. I'm prepared to begin with just a few acres of arable land; to establish a garden, harvest and preserve food for the winter, sell a surplus to available community markets, and use the off-season to plan the growth and expansion of the enterprise the following season.
I'm also prepared to work with the owners to remediate existing land, adapt to and modify existing soil conditions over time, and manage the geomorphology (reshape the terrain) as required over time.

Preferred current state of the surface of the cultivable area
Ideally, a plot of land that is either fallow, or been previously established for agricultural yields. I am aiming for a permaculture approach to food production and land restoration.

Soil needs
I currently live in the Kootenay Boundary region where the soils are suitable for grazing, and hay grass production. I'd like to be in an area with good drainage, a longer growing season, and good water access. I'm happy to share a longer list of criteria, but I believe each parcel should be evaluated on it's own merits.
