Farm Project Description

I am looking for a space to begin my own farm endeavours. I am hoping to work with landowners who are interested in seeing their land used with Organic Regenerative farming practices. I am focused on creating carbon sequestering designs on my farm as i feel it is important as a farmer to take responsibility in my role with climate action as well as food security. I see My farm beginning as a small project 1-2 acres, focusing primarily on vegetable crop cultivation. I would like to focus on growing storage crops like onions, potatoes, beets, carrots, winter squash, garlic but do want summer cultivation as well. I am looking to launch a CSA member program, with hope of carrying out a 18-20 week box, focusing first on 50 participants and further growing over the years from there. I also Would like to have a small roadside farm stand for surplus of vegetables and to allow access to fresh veg to the community that I find myself in. Eventually I see my farm growing and supplying a larger number of CSA memberships, and potentially would be open and interested in developing relationships with those interested in Farm to table services and value added items such as preserves/dryed goods.

Land & Features Desired

Total Land Size (acres)
1-10 acres
Wooded Area (acres)
No
Cultivable Area (acres)
1-5 acres
Possibility to expand area currently available (acres)
Yes - Open to expansion as my skill set and understanding of farming grows.
Zoning
Either
Preferred current state of the surface of the cultivable area

It would be ideal if the area of interest is well drained, fertile, workable, meaning crops are able to be planted in the following season post lease agreement with minimal soil building necessary. An understanding of current soil content/conditions would be valuable, but not essential, as that is easily remedied with soil testing. It would also be great if there was access to greenhouse use, storage/drying facilities and an area for cleaning and packaging, however all of these things can be added if not already existing. I would also like irrigation to accessible, if already established that would be amazing, however I am budgeting for Irrigation. Having electrical accessible is also important.

Open to landowner residing on property
Yes - Am open to sharing space so long as the agreement is clear and interactions are based on respect, communication and creativity
Need farm buildings
Yes - I would like to have a facility for storage of tools and machinery (however I am open to building my own granted permission). Having a residence on site is my most ideal situation, if there is no farm residence, the ability to bring my own is preferred. Living off site is an option, but only if the land is in the greater Victoria Area.
Need fenced land
Yes - If deer are present, a fence is necessary ( again open for discussion upon lease agreement).
Need farm machinery and tools
Yes - Anything that could potentially be shared/used would be appreciated!
Need established water source and infrastructure
unsure
Need on-site housing
Yes - A livable structure would be most ideal, cabin/house. However if not structure is avaiabe, the opportunity to put my own on the land is essential.
