Description: This program seeks to improve adaptive capacity by encouraging the adoption of effective farm processes to help mitigate impacts related to climate change. Supported projects include:
1) Promote innovation in farm practices, approaches and technologies that support climate change adaptation
2) Demonstrate farm practices that reduce weather related production risks, and identify new production opportunities
3) Develop informational and knowledge sharing resources and support increased sector capacity to support adaptation
4) Project types supported through the program include applied research, pilots, demonstrations, and adoption facilitation.
Funding is available to support projects in four different farm practice categories:
1) Soil and Crop Management (includes horticulture, orchards, viticulture, seeded forage and forage grown for seed)
2) Livestock, Pasture and Range Management (includes livestock water)
3) Water Management
4) Whole Farm and Business Management
Guidelines:
1) Individual B.C. agri-foods sector producers or groups of B.C. agri-foods sector producers
2) C. agri-food industry associations/organizations
3) Input, technology, support and advisory services providers
4) Academic institutions and/or other organizations and private sector businesses
5) C. First Nation governments, organizations, individuals and corporations
6) B.C. local governments, including regional districts and municipalities
