Description and historical use of land available for farming
previously an organic vineyard, however the land is not well suited for grapes, as the water table is too high and all the vines were lost in a cold winter. soil is slightly alkaline at 7.8 pH. The land was river bottom so soil is variable, very deep in some places, small stones in others – overall very healthy though. The region is classified as a Zone 5 growing area and the farmable area gets excellent, all day sun exposure.
