Farm Project Description

We would like to be able to offer our community a way to reconnect with the land by planting and harvesting traditional root vegetables and Medicinal plants such as sage and oregano and many other herbs and berries that help our immunity. There is not enough organic produce in our area that Low income families can access and be able to afford to do themselves or even have the yard space. So we want to provide our members with fresh produce to be able to use in our tradional meals and recipes. This project would also allow us to be able to benefit citizens by creating a way for them to reconnect with traditional ways of living off the land. People will highly benefit from being able to help plant and get their hands dirty and be part of something that they can watch grow and be proud of the fully grown produce they planted. Elders in our community woould benefit greatly as they miss being able to grow or have a garden space to to injury or age or even having to move out of there home into a Seniors home. The community garden project would benefit our youth as well and could have our school systems onvoled in an education and planting day ect. We would be running all aspects of the gardening process by enagaging a council and volunteers to maintain the garden and all other aspects of this project.
