Our aim is to create a cooperative farming and cohousing project in BC, Canada where… - We foster right relations with the land and the First People of the land - We want to farm things that make sense for the land we are on and the community we are based in - some of the things we're excited to cultivate are sheep, perennial fruits and herbs, a small selection of hearty annual staples, and a community that is educated and engaged with their local food system - We cooperate and co-create to meet our basic needs and therefore free up time and energy for creating the world we want to live in - We use a diverse and creative blend of agroecological techniques to bolster long-term local food security - One’s access to physically, socially, mentally, emotionally and spiritually healthy food and lifestyle choices are not dependent on their race, wealth, or ability (or … choices are safe, inclusive and accessible to all) - We steward and sustain our custodial responsibility out of respect for and in support of healthy animals, land, air, water, and relationships - We serve as a community hub for education, culture, creativity, healing and local organizing - We live, work, teach, and thrive in the commons we cultivate and caretake together - We foster a vibrant, multigenerational community that takes excellent care of our old and our young - People can heal as much and as often as they need to (of course this is immensely important; does it need to be in our mission? Isn’t this inherent in fostering a healthy life?) - Reciprocity is valued; people give what they can and take what they need - We create a system that is abundant, adaptable, and resilient, where we and future generations will be able to take care of each other and live good lives no matter what challenges the future brings.
