Do you have a business plan?
Yes - I have executed and implemented this plan for over 15 years
Do you have financial resources available to start your farm?
No
Do you have access to other financial resources (such as a financial partner, loan, etc.) to start your farm?'
Yes - I need basic start up capital for cultivation tools, supplies, living space, infrastructure and facilities. It is my preference to collaborate with an owner, and/or lease to own a parcel of land.
I will have financial resources once I find the right property and arrangement. Each property offers unique opportunities. Investment would need to be
assessed according to the design of the project and potential that the property offers.
Total Land Size (acres)
5-200
Wooded Area (acres)
Yes - minimum 25-30% of property
Cultivable Area (acres)
minimum 3 - maximum 200 acres
Possibility to expand area currently available (acres)
Yes - Selective logging if trees need spacing or cultivable land required
Preferred current state of the surface of the cultivable area
Cleared or owner is willing to clear. Nutrient rich soil is
preferrable.
Open to landowner residing on property
Yes
Need farm buildings
No - Preferable to have sheds for harvest
work, supply and tool storage
Need fenced land
No - Prefer to have fencing for garden areas.
Need farm machinery and tools
No - Standard, basic gardening and cultivation tools will be used.
All food farming will be done without mechanical
equipment.
Need established water source and infrastructure
We will be utilizing rain water catchment and saving systems, routed throughout our gardens by rain barrels and irrigation drip-lines. Ideally we will also recycle grey water throughout the property to feed our non-edible plants and trees.
Need on-site housing
Yes - It is my intention to invest in a non-permanent
housing structure such as a tiny home or yurt if
housing is not already part of the property.
Soil needs
Nutrient dense, compost, good mix of soil, sand, peat moss. Cleared.
Will acquire commercial insurance
No - Completely dependent on the property, the
lease and agreement, if the owner lives on the
property and the potential impact the farm will
have on the property.
If it made sense for both parties to acquire
insurance, I would be willing to do so.
