Apprenticeship - One season as an intern on a small scale farm with vegetables and animals
General farming (3 years or less) - 2 seasons of working on organic small farms
Other experience/agricultural/business training - McGill University, faculty of agricultural and environmental sciences- school of environment specializing in sustainable food production; only 4 courses away from completing my degree
Do you have a business plan?
Yes - Begin with vegetable farming and laying hens for local farmer's markets. Eventually, fruit trees/bushes would be amazing, as well as a few sheep and some bees!
Do you have financial resources available to start your farm?
Yes - Savings
Do you have access to other financial resources (such as a financial partner, loan, etc.) to start your farm?'
Yes - A grant would be amazing! I will look into business loans once I secure a location to begin.
