Farm Project Description

I have an increasing passion and desire to contribute in rebuilding regional food security and land health/regeneration through starting a micro, lower cost, high diversity, high productivity permaculture market farm and gardens. I intend to create this in holistically managing the land by mimicking ecosystem processes through agroforestry/silvopasture, swales, ponds, and careful permaculture designing. I have no grand romantic illusions and am acutely aware this achievement will demand dedication, hard work, determination, and will invariably come across many challenges and setbacks. Farming is not for the faint of heart, and is a way of life. Feel the fear and do it anyway! I have faith my passion for sustainable holistic farming, along with life long learning by doing and via the young agrarian pioneer's/mentorships, that we will be able to get beyond any hurdles in the way. I aspire one day to join in mentoring prospective young agrarians by providing on farm school tours, internships, and customer education. " Traditional agriculture was labor intensive, Industrial agriculture is energy intensive, and Permaculture designed systems are information and design intensive. " David Holmgren. Some of my favorite successful and inspiring farmers/young agrarian mentors are; Jean-Martin Fortier, Takota Coen, Richard Perkins, Greg Judy, Joel Salatin, Mark Shepard, and Curtis Stone. All of whom have excellent YouTube videos, and many have published books in my personal library. (Will be relocating back to our home province of BC from Northern Alberta.) Its a sobering thought really, that the majority of our food production comes from nearly monoculture, and retiring farmers. Isn’t it?!
