Seeking letters of interest from individuals actively prioritizing their search for a Small Farm location to achieve rural food and housing security and to build a farm gate entrepreneurial opportunity. I am the current land steward owner of two biologically diverse small farm food and forest wetland ecosystems- 67km SE of Steinbach, MB and 80km west of Lake of the Woods. Located at Sundown, MB travel is Hwy 1 to Highway 12SE to PR302S Vita to 201E Nearest Canada/US Border Crossings are east at 24 km, 40km and 64km. Your east property line edges 160 acres protected by the Nature Conservancy of Canada. To our north limit lies a vast marsh that sustains Sandhill Crane, Heron and so much more. Mixed forest encircles the 395m wide pasture offering food & shelter to a truly Canadian assortment of wildlife favourites such as deer, porcupine, partridge, rabbit, bear and prairie chicken. Raptors including hawk, Bald Eagle, Northern Harrier and Canada’s largest owl patrol here. Locally I see both wild turkey, turkey vulture and surprisingly, Elk. This is a food forest with Morel, hazelnut, chokecherry, high bush cranberry, wild plum and more. Trees are Alder, Aspen, Ash, Maple, Bur Oak, White Birch and Tamarack. CORE TARGET AUDIENCE -Individuals exiting cities with determination to farm -Young Agrarians with a small farm animal background -Veterinary, Biosystem or Bioscience trained individuals -those committed to Net Zero Small Home Off Grid Living with a life-long goal to shepherd a forest and farm ecosystem I’m committed to natural systems agriculture and development of a Small Home, Small Farm Bioeconomy respecting the land’s carrying capacity. My selection of lighter impact animals is Goat, poultry, sheep, pigs and few cattle. An aquaponic fish and forage grass tray polyculture can provide piped fertile irrigation water and fresh or dried winter hay supplements for overwintering breeder stock. I can also envision Insect & Worm Culture. Winnipeg is (130km) to the northwest and could support a bulk fresh and freezer CSA sales market to ethnically diverse clientele. SuperStore frozen goat & lamb currently sell at $31.97 for 1.15kg. Best live sale price paid for goat at Grunthal Auction in 2021 was $13.00 kg
