Our family is looking for a new place to call home! We’re hoping to find a 3-4 bedroom home to rent long-term for our growing family and 2 large dogs, preferably within a few hours of Invermere for end of September or early October. We'd love to be on a farm, acreage or eco-resort where we can either help with an existing garden and livestock, or have space for our own garden, and hopefully chickens too. Ideally there would be some construction or property maintenance work for my partner onsite, but this isn't a requirement. Power and access to good internet are a must however! We are handy and skilled and would be a benefit to a farm, property development or property management type situation. We would consider a rental, work-trade, or rent-to-own agreement. A bit about us: We are a pretty awesome bunch! We are soon to be 5 humans (two adults, two kids aged 9 & 11 and a baby due in July) and two large dogs. I am a permaculture designer, educator & consultant and own Avalily Permaculture and The Earthskills Institute. I spent the last decade building and managing an urban homestead in Invermere that has a food forest, a greenhouse, chickens, compost, two large annual gardens, perennial garden beds, rainwater collection & irrigation, a small pond, and have kept bees in the past as well. I will be taking on a full time job later in the fall. My partner is a carpenter and handyman who has been in the property maintenance and construction industry for many years, and has experience from framing to finishing. He currently works at a resort in Fairmont where he renovates and maintains historical cabins and helps build newer resort facilities. The kids are super helpful too, and love working with animals. We would love to hear from you if you have a home suitable for our family that is available long-term whether it's on an acreage or not (this is just our dream). Of course we'd love to stay in the Columbia Valley, but we are a bit flexible (must stay in BC). It would be nice to help another family develop some projects on their land or help manage a farm or resort type operation as part of our living arrangement. We are open to ideas and propositions. The idea of living in community appeals to us!
It would be great to have a garden, greenhouse or food forest I could grow in, or the ability to help develop one.
