Hello, farmers and homesteaders! Do you need a live-in farm hand or assistant? My name is Layla, I am a 34-year-old muralist, artist, entrepreneur, skill-seeker and adventurer currently looking to exchange my services for a semi-permanent place to park my tiny house. I can assist with various aspects such as building, construction, gardening, child care, creative projects, animal husbandry, food preservation, cooking, planting, harvesting etc. (see my skills chart). I am very socially engaged, caring and enthusiastic. Learning, adapting and being challenged are great motivators for me. My main objective is to live in a skill-exchange environment where I can grow intellectually and gain a network of like-minded people. I am very interested in getting to know my way around permaculture systems, composting, animal husbandry, water systems, soil building etc. I graduated with my Bachelor's in Fine Arts from Concordian in Montreal, I have travelled to over 30 countries around the world, but I want to make Vancouver Island my forever home. I am working towards a more self-sufficient future and have plenty of learning to do. I'm excited to get started! My house is a 28’L x 8’6”W x 13’5”H trailer that I constructed myself. It will be solar-capable in the future, but for the moment, it will require basic RV hookups for power and fresh water. It has a composting toilet, and the greywater system can adapt to the location. I am looking to transport the house from Edmonton in the spring of 2023.
