Farm Project Description
Seeking land for a Secwepemc-led food sovereignty project with an emphasis on being a space for growth and learning, sharing and preserving. Secwepemc gardens have always been highly productive, feeding both families and frontlines while also cultivating and protecting wild foods and medicines in the area. Our growing collective seeks to replicate this culture of food sovereignty and spread both the knowledge and teachings that have formed the foundation of a culture of abundance and celebration of all things living.
The proposed farm project or farm school will be a teaching space centering Secwepemc practices with an emphasis on seed saving, food preserving, identifying and using plant medicines and holding space for healing with the land.
All work will be restorative, sustainable and guided by the land and community needs with a focus on creating gathering spaces, sharing food and practicing alternative economies of craft, trade and barter.
