I planted 30 lbs of garlic this year. Next year I will need a place to plant the entire harvest. I don't plan on selling any for at least 3 years to build up the seed stock. As garlic needs to be rotated every year, I will eventually need about 4 acres minimum to support the rotation. There is a very good commercial garlic growing spreadsheet in Rasa Creek Farm inc. which helps figure out inputs, labor and land requirements. I also have a friend who is growing garlic commercially that is willing to mentor me. My plan is to grow premium garlic for seed stock and market it locally in the north. If I can find the right piece of land at a price that makes economical sense, I would like to purchase.
