Training
  • Other experience/agricultural/business training - Log Homes Building, Saw milling, Tree Pruning, Landscaping, Permaculture Gardening
Do you have a business plan?
Yes - I have several One Page Business plans for several projects awaiting the right timing, resource, partner...
Do you have financial resources available to start your farm?
Yes - Some personal investment, existing customers and friends might get onboard once I secure Land, they know my ethics and hardwork which needs a long term land to focus on and benefit to. Been in talks with Community Futures (Started my woodworking business with them in 2014, in Nelson)
Do you have access to other financial resources (such as a financial partner, loan, etc.) to start your farm?'
Yes - Of course, a maximum of budget would help dramatically to run with the season... machinery, more plants, better materials, some skilled help, all this can boot a budget to success drastically

Project

Farm Name
Nimble Nest
Farm Project Description

Develop a small working eco village based within an Agroforestry project, offering work, culture and eco tourism opportunities. The First main activity is about Quality Hardwoods, Tonewoods and Timber Framing Cuts. It would be source as ethically as possible, by sourcing from Demolitions, Renovations, Movie Sets, City/Province Arborists, fellow Woodworkers and locals alike. While our own planted Trees will take decades to Mature, we will use them as the framework for an abundant Food Forest with several layers of canopies and a very dense and diverse ecosystem. We would have Animal friends and helpers roaming under those trees to keep pests and weed down while nourishing the soil. First few years will be slow output of such a garden and crops, although we will focus on lesser risks crops and conditions to insure some crop success, every year. Also the first years a lot of efforts would be put towards building and establishing the infrastructures and systems. The farm could become a learning ground for all aspects: Building, Planning, Permaculture, Processing, Harvesting, Planting, Marketing... as well as social events: Weddings, Photo/Video Shoots, Documentaries/Vlogs, BBQs, Art shows, Music... so many ways to help pay the bills and get help! Ultimately, the farm would produce quality wood products from Modular Cabins, to Guitars, Furniture, HardWood Blanks but also Essential Oils, Fire starters, Fire wood, Mulch, Charcoal... And juggling with the seasons and weather, the food forest would bring so many crops that it would be too long to expose here. Needless to say, designed properly from the start and working WITH nature, we can create an over abundance and hopefully help or even start a non profit to share food locally.
