Training
  • Agriculture-related degree - Landscaping diploma
  • Farm management (3 years or less) - In 2017, I acted as a project manager to lay the plans of a farming business which involved landscaping, wood construction and agrobiology. The project lasted for a year until 2018 and was part of a much larger educational farm with the status and legal structure of a farm with several objectives: educational, agricultural production, training, leisure, social integration.
  • Farm management (3 years+) -
  • Other experience/agricultural/business training - Most recently, from 2021 to 2023, I had a few acres to operate as a hobby organic farm, with a production of potatoes, tomatoes, salad, cabbages and squashes, of different varieties. We were able to cover our needs (we are a family of 2 adults and one teen of 15 and we gave away the rest for free to friends and neighbors)

Farm Project Description

Our project is the development, implementation of an agricultural farm intended for the organic food market. It is possible to run autonomous farming systems with very low input use, preserving biodiversity, while maintaining high economic profitability. Studies show that the transition from conventional to diversified organic farming (permanent polyculture type) increases the gross product by +25% over 10 years. In addition, operating costs are halved, thanks to the reduction in input purchases. We are interested in sustainable agriculture, and we understand the importance of developing food sovereignty and healthy local food for the future, while respecting the environment and the communities. It is also a question of developing profitable economic activities that will eventually create good jobs in a growing market. The demand for sustainable agricultural products is a growing trend. We are targeting the local organic market in our district through formal channels, but especially through direct sales. Our target crop varieties in the first 5 years: tomatoes, lettuce and other salads, kale, cabbage, cucumber, squashes, zucchinis, green beans, red and green onions, potatoes, aromatic herbs, among others. We search for the best diversification of our organic crops to improve yields and the optimal association of plant species in time and space, according to recognised permaculture models on one hectare over 5 years.
