*write a book that addresses this topic for grandparents who want a calmer, healthier lifestyle while teaching their families to live a better life.
*at least a two to three year lease on a small plot size, no larger than two acres, with an option to renew. This would be for our own use and, when possible, to share with others on the farm.
*In year one, we’d plan to focus on establishing shelter for ourselves, at least two goats for cheese production, and up to 7 chickens for eggs, with a large garden plot for vegetables, and sunflowers (just for the pleasure of looking at them).
*Our own shelter in year one would be quite basic, either a small camper or a four season canvas hot tent with a stove jack, which we’d keep on site for visitors in later years. An electrical connection would be very useful when starting up the plot.
An outdoor tandoori, fireplace, firewood shed, a simple shower rigging, and a sheltered outdoor compost toilet would also be included in the first year plan. A hot tub for sore old bones would be lovely, but isn’t an immediate need. Water needs would likely fit in with the farm’s current setup, and a goat pen or other necessary fencing would need to be installed.
The first year winter would include planning to set up an off grid energy source in the spring, and writing.
*Year two would focus on setting up a tiny house or yurt, a more permanent shower / bath arrangement, gardening, and livestock plans for the spring and summer, based on all the mistakes made and lessons learned in the first year. Again, winter would involve writing, and researching for a full off grid plan for the third year.
