Experienced farmer (7 years of farming) looking for 0.50-1 acres for long-term lease to grow established business. The farm runs seasonally from approx Apr-Oct with field-grown crops and a few small unheated tunnels for growing in the shoulder seasons. Current sales channels include farmer's markets, and custom orders of value-added products. Future sales channels may include CSA subscription and on-farm events. There is no livestock, just veg/flowers. Quiet/respectful tenant looking for landowner who is passionate about sharing their land and championing a small business owner. The ideal property would be flat and have vehicle access right next to the growing area for ease of harvest, dropping off supplies and compost deliveries. The area would be in a full sun with minimal shade and where the water point of connection is relatively close to where the crops are grown. Properties with potential for hosting small, on-farm events (i.e. flower u-pick, workshop, or photoshoots) would be ideal. The landowners would be okay with the farmer having PT employees or volunteers work the land so some separation between their residence and the leased area should be considered. If the landowners have livestock on the property, there should be appropriate fencing in place to keep the animals out of the leased area.
Cleared land preferred (no major debris/brush/trees/stumps); open field/pasture under grass okay; if previously farmed preferably it would be an area where pesticides/ herbicides have not been used.
