Reviving Our Roots, Nourishing Our Future: The Kara-Kata Africa Village Project (KAVP)
Empowering the Black, African and Caribbean (BAC) communities to reclaim our agricultural heritage and thrive!
KAVP is a groundbreaking initiative that inspires new and settled community members to embrace farming as a sustainable economic opportunity. We're dedicated to growing and selling culturally appropriate foods that nourish our bodies and souls. Our mantra? "Let's grow what we eat, and eat what we grow."
Led by the Kara-Kata Afrobeat Society of Canada, this pioneering project is the first of its kind, proudly rooted in BAC community leadership and ownership. Together, we're cultivating a healthier, more prosperous future, reconnecting with our ancestral traditions and celebrating our cultural identity.
We are working on obtaining funding to expand our farming infrastructure on the property.
