Do you have financial resources available to start your farm?
No - Currently running this as a side project out of my garden at home.
Do you have access to other financial resources (such as a financial partner, loan, etc.) to start your farm?'

Farm Name
Sunny Seeds Co
Farm Project Description

I am a 36 year old that has worked the last 20 years as a makeup artist, five years as a landscaper creating beautiful gardens for clients, and I want to bring my artistic eye and creativity to a new venture. I started my company Sunny Seeds Co, earlier this year, and for having no real marketing budget, I am proud of what I have accomplished so far. I'm ready to focus all of my sweat equity on a new venture. You can view what I currently have available @sunnyseedsco on instagram. I have taken the YA farming 101 course, as well as obsessively watched other flower farms journey's online. I don't have any farming experience solo, but I did technically learn how to drive a John Deer combine as a kid. Farming runs in my blood my grandparents and great-grandparents were all farmers. I'm not confident the slow flower movement is successful enough in Vancouver yet to compete with auction houses and shipped florals. Therefor I am focusing on Locally grown rare specialty cut flower seeds, and native varieties. I'd like to continue Breeding new varieties of dahlias from seed and selling the tubers, as well as selling bearded Iris rhizomes, peony tubers. Focused on specialty offerings that multiply themselves and can give a good playoff for the square footage they occupy. I would love to empower any flower lover to grow their own bouquets at home. Grow Locally. Feeding pollinators and supporting natural ecosystems are also layers in what motivates me. I have a business plan, but depending on the space that is found, the plan would evolve into utilizing the space. In an ideal world, landholders and I could enhance eachothers ventures, collaborating in some overlapping areas such as events. If a compatible space is found, I would run workshops teaching various skills regarding cut flowers, and growing your own food. A sample of workshop topics could include : How to start your own seeds; Organic Gardening Practices; Set up a pollinator sanctuary in your own yard; Cut flower bouquet building; How to divide and store Dahlias; and more.
