It's a forested area, so we are looking for farmers who don't need large pastures and who are not planning to grow conventional grain cultures, anything that requires to clear all of the trees.
This is a designated farm land but hasn't been farmed much before, apart from some indoor growing. It has ponds, a stream, a well, electricity, existing structures like a modular home, a house, a garage, a yoga studio, a dirt bike track.
We're building a community that lives on the land and fosters sustainable land stewardship and farming practices. We have a number of innovative projects that are being built on the land, including biogas generation, energy-efficient greenhouses, agrisolar shelters, modular energy storage solutions and others. We’ve mentored over 200 Capstone students from universities across the country and we continue to involve youth in all of our projects. We also have professors from the top Canadian universities working on these projects with us - so we have access to lots of top notch mentors from chemical and mechanical engineers to food policy and sustainability experts. Together we want to make the future more sustainable and for this land to serve as a pilot project for how this can be done.
