Farm Project Description

Our farm project is rooted in a long-term vision of building a productive, sustainable, and community-focused market garden on a 2.5-acre leased property. Guided by values of sustainable land stewardship, food security, and family well-being, we are taking a phased and financially responsible approach to building our farm. In Year One, as we are entering the growing season late, our focus will be on cultivating 1 to 2 acres of sweet corn as a foundational crop. Sweet corn offers a relatively straightforward growing process, allows us to establish key systems (such as irrigation and soil management), and provides an income stream to help fund future infrastructure needs. Profits from our first season will be reinvested into essential farm assets, such as a greenhouse, and additional tools and equipment that will support season extension and crop diversity. In Year Two, we will maintain one acre of sweet corn production while expanding into a diversified vegetable operation. This will include growing a variety of crops suited for direct-to-consumer sales through farmers markets and social media-based preorders. We will begin building customer relationships, refining our systems, and gradually scaling production to align with both our business goals and our long-term vision of transitioning to full-time farming. This staged approach allows us to start lean, minimize debt, and grow intentionally as able.
