Farm Project Description: The Palenke Experience is a holistic, land-based initiative designed to restore cultural connections to food, farming, and wellness. We've set the intentions to create a vibrant, multifunctional hub for regenerative agriculture, cultural food production, intergenerational learning, and community celebration. 1. Livestock & Grazing: A Living Classroom - We envision raising a small herd of sheep and goats for fibre, dairy, and regenerative grazing. These animals will play an active role in our stewardship model—helping maintain the land’s health through rotational grazing—and serve as an important teaching tool for families. Through hands-on animal care workshops, we’ll reconnect participants to ancestral knowledge and practices in humane, reciprocal farming. 2. Food Growing & Market Garden: We intend to cultivate approximately one acre with culturally significant crops, pollinator-friendly herbs, and traditional vegetables. Crops like callaloo, hibiscus, cassava, and medicinal herbs will be grown using low-till, permaculture-informed practices. This food will support our programming, nourish community members, and contribute to local markets and food boxes. We’ll integrate the garden into seasonal workshops and educational sessions on climate-smart agriculture and food sovereignty. 3. Commercial Kitchen Activation: We envison a commercial space that will become the base for Plantain Innovations Co.—our scratch-made, allergen-friendly snack and staple food business. From cassava crackers to hibiscus zobo and banana bread, we create foods rooted in healing and culture. This space will also host parent-and-tot cooking classes, food preservation workshops, and youth culinary training programs, supporting both economic empowerment and wellness. 4. The Palenke Experience Hub: The Palenke Experience—a seasonal, immersive program where families cook, garden, learn, and celebrate together. Through storytelling, herbal medicine sessions, seed saving, and shared meals, we offer a space of joy, healing, and knowledge transmission. This land will not just be farmed—it will be activated as a sanctuary and classroom for cultural resilience. 5. Events & Partnerships: We will host seasonal farm pop-ups, open days, and cultural events, and collaborate with local schools, food programs, and cultural organizations. The barn offers an ideal venue for goat milking demonstrations, storytelling circles, and hands-on workshops. These gatherings deepen connection and diversify our revenue streams through experiential education and cultural tourism.
If possible, ready to farm.
