Farm Project Description
I envision a sustainable/humane chicken farm, producing eggs, as well as meat balancing the use of dual purpose heritage breeds with broiler breeds. This mixed usage is done to try and make the best of both worlds in terms of profit turnover, as well as sustainability and most of all quality. I am also interested in exploring becoming a breeder, and selling chicks and/or hens. I have minimal farm experience, but am currently immersing myself in research as well as courses with Young Agrarians.
This decision has been a dream of mine of some time, and I am eager to get started. I've come up with a very basic business plan on an operational standpoint, with my primary struggle being in marketing my future products and making connections within the industry here in Langley. I am excited to get started and am hoping to find the support I need.
