Do you have a business plan?
Yes - My plan is to build a small-scale, ecologically grounded farm with a strong focus on vegetable production, including leafy greens, root crops, and seasonally appropriate varieties. I also plan to experiment with microgreens in the off-season and introduce perennial systems and flowers as I scale. The core of the business will be organic, regenerative, and tailored to the specific microclimate of the location. My aim is to build slowly and intelligently, reinvesting in the land and infrastructure year over year while staying financially sustainable. Eventually, I’d like the farm to include some light livestock like chickens, a small orchard, and permaculture-inspired systems for fertility and water management. The specifics highly depend on location
Do you have financial resources available to start your farm?
Yes - Saving and will find work outside of farm until farm is up in running
Do you have access to other financial resources (such as a financial partner, loan, etc.) to start your farm?'
Yes - Potential bank loans, There are also grants/ subsidies available through the Government for farm
Total Land Size (acres)
more the 3 acres
Cultivable Area (acres)
Stating with 1/4 to 1/2 acre
Possibility to expand area currently available (acres)
Yes - up to 3 in depending on lifestock
Preferred current state of the surface of the cultivable area
Open to landowner residing on property
Yes - Yes, absolutely. In fact, I would greatly value the landowner’s presence especially in the early years as I’ll be relying on their knowledge of the land’s history, rhythms, and quirks. Their lived experience is something I deeply respect. I also believe that witnessing the land flourish under careful stewardship watching it grow in abundance could bring a deep sense of satisfaction and joy. Ideally, this would feel like a shared journey of regeneration
Need farm buildings
Yes - Yes. At minimum, I’ll need: A small heated greenhouse or propagation tunnel for seed starts Tool and equipment storage (could be an existing shed or small outbuilding) Space to build a basic wash/pack station for post-harvest handling Access to or space for installing large refrigerators or coolers for produce storage I'm also open to building or improving infrastructure over time, especially if there’s long-term security on the land
Need fenced land
Yes - Would be nice but can build!
Need farm machinery and tools
Yes - Access to basic farm tools and small-scale machinery would be helpful, especially in the early stages. However, I’m not dependent on heavy equipment and am willing to invest in or bring in appropriate tools over time as the farm growsBasic hand tools (e.g., shovels, rakes, hoes, wheelbarrows) Compost systems, irrigation infrastructure, and fencing materials Possibly a walk-behind tractor or BCS unit for bed prep, especially if establishing new ground.
Need established water source and infrastructure
It all depend on water source is located. As mentioned above
Need on-site housing
Yes - Yes, on-site housing is important to me for both practical and ecological reasons. I currently have a small trailer I can live in temporarily, which gives me some flexibility in the short term. Ideally, though, more permanent housing would be available or supported. Alternatively, I’m open to designing and building my own small, low-impact dwelling if the landholder is open to it and zoning allows.

Soil needs
Soil is my number one priority—it's the foundation of everything I do. I believe that healthy, living soil is the heart of a resilient farm system. I expect to invest the majority of my time, labour, and capital into stewarding and building long-term soil health. Ideally, I’m looking for: Loam or sandy loam soils with good drainage and organic matter content Neutral to slightly acidic pH (6.2–6.8) High biological activity with a well-developed soil food web Nutrient-wise, I’m aiming for balanced macro- and micronutrients, especially: Nitrogen (N): moderate to high, around 40–80 ppm Phosphorus (P): 30–70 ppm Potassium (K): 150–250 ppm Magnesium (Mg): 100–200 ppm, That said, I’m also open to improving and building poor soils if there’s long-term security. value a space where regenerative practices like composting, mulching, cover cropping, and perennial integration will be supported and respected.
