Good Shepherd Ranch’s mission is to pioneer the CORF (Community-Owned Regenerative Farm) model. We aim to establish an abundant community owned regenerative farm that not only feeds its community, but nourishes them, with nutrient dense food for the body, and connection and experience for the soul. Land regeneration is a key motivation for the project, we believe the true measure of a communities wealth is the health of its land. We strive to build health from the soil up - increasing biodiversity, improving the water cycle, supporting carbon sequestration, increasing resilience to climate change, and strengthening the vitality of the communities foundational resource - the land. By adopting the latest regenerative agriculture techniques we seek to ensure the land can sustain not only ourselves but the generations that follow. Through our Immersive Learning Experiences, farm tours, and partnerships with local schools and organizations, we aim to raise awareness about regenerative farming practices, soil health, environmental stewardship, and the importance of sustainable systems that produce nutrient dense food. By cultivating an environment of continuous learning, collaboration, and shared responsibility, our goal is to ensure a sustainable legacy for future generations, where the farm thrives as a vibrant and resilient hub of community-owned regenerative agriculture.
Open & Usable: - Mostly cleared (not heavily forested), so I can begin planting or grazing right away. - Light brush or meadow is okay (easier to convert than dense forest). - Healthy Soil - Deep topsoil, good organic matter. - No recent heavy chemical use (herbicides, pesticides) or industrial contamination. - Preferably tested and suitable for veggies, grains, and pasture. Flat to Gently Sloping - South-facing slopes preferred. - Avoid steep rocky terrain (hard to cultivate, prone to erosion). Reliable Drainage - Not swampy or flood-prone. - Loamy soil with good water retention but no standing water. Water Access - Creek, spring, or drilled well nearby for irrigation. - Bonus: irrigation ditches or ponds already in place. Partially Developed, but Not Overused - Ideally, some existing pasture for livestock and some open land ready for gardens/orchards.
