This is a 480 acre property on 2 separate titles (owned free and clear). The property is completely off grid, 4-5 km from highway 16. The landholders acquired the property 10 years ago. There is one gravel road on and off the property (public access). The property is in a valley bottom primarily. There has been quite a bit of logging, some agriculture. The previous owner set up canals, which are in need of some repair. A new land user would need to bust up beaver dams and excavate to get the canals going better. The property has great natural meadow grass and some canary, and boasts a beautiful ecosystem. There is lots of nice forest and the landholders have done some logging but have also replanted. Some incredibly rich, mineral-dense soil. There is some fencing and cross fencing on the 160 acre home parcel, that is in need of repair. The property is surrounded by crown land where other folks graze cattle. An incoming ground crop farmer would need to improve the fencing to keep cattle out.

Long-term goal or vision for land

The landholders would like to preserve the ecosystem, reduce local food insecurity, and see experimental crops grown on the land (pine nut, boreal rice, spelt, etc). They would also love to see beekeeping on the property. They would love to work with someone who knows how to manage the land and water in an integrated way, for example, working with instead of against beavers. Preference for biodynamic farming.
