State of the surface of the cultivable area
The market garden space on this farm is flat, cleared, and grassy with a minor slope and full sun exposure. This zone has existing irrigation infrastructure and is close to a power source. The food forest is a mix of full sun and dappled shade, with some established perennial beds, as well as overgrown raised beds that are ready for use after a bit of clearing. There is some scotch broom and thistle pressure on the farm, but the landholder is actively working to curtail it and would appreciate support in that stewardship project from a farmer.
Description and historical use of land available for farming
The west side of the land was originally cleared with the intention of establishing a golf course, but was never fully realized. The current landholder has since cleared remaining alders and scotch broom to establish several large fields, where they now have a truffle orchard with mixed free-range poultry, a commercial annual and perennial market garden area, a food forest, and many more exciting projects to come!
