160 acre property with 100 acres in hay, sub-irrigated meadow. 2 shallow wells on the property, one for domestic use and one for animals. 6,000 sq. ft. mixed market garden (vegetable, fruit, and flower) cultivated by landholders.
Land acquired in 2021 by current landholders. Previous landholders had Highland cattle and hayed the property.
The landholders are seeking a farmer(s) who would like to raise or graze animals and/or grow ground crops using organic or biodynamic farming techniques. They are open to and interested in collaboration and/or mentorship. The landholders currently live on the property but will likely be out-of-province for several years starting in November 2027, with an uncertain return date. They could be interested in collaboration, separate use of spaces, or a lease-to-own/transition agreement down the line. They are open to having a farmer come onto the land while they still live on the property and/or afterward. Currently, the landholders breed yaks for fibre and meat, and grow mixed vegetables, fruit, and flowers on their 1/4 acre market garden. The landholders have a background in biodynamic farming and would like to support closed-loop nutrient cycles on the property.
