Do you have a business plan?
Yes - Yes. I have a draft business plan to lease farmland in the Fraser Valley area and develop a commercial meat-sheep farm. The plan includes phased growth of the flock, infrastructure needs (fencing, shelter, water), estimated costs, and marketing lamb and sheep to local processors and ethnic markets.
Do you have financial resources available to start your farm?
No
Do you have access to other financial resources (such as a financial partner, loan, etc.) to start your farm?'
No - No. I have only limited personal savings for start-up costs and I am looking for support through government programs, grants, and possibly a partner or investor to help with land lease and infrastructure costs.
Total Land Size (acres)
Around 20 acres ( 15–30 acres)
Wooded Area (acres)
Yes - A small wooded area (1–3 acres) for shade and shelter, but mostly open pasture.
Cultivable Area (acres)
About 15–20 acres of good pasture/hay fields.
Possibility to expand area currently available (acres)
Yes - Yes – ideally the possibility to expand by another 10–20 acres in the future.
Preferred current state of the surface of the cultivable area
Established, well-drained grass pasture, already cleared and mostly fenced, with access to water. Previously used for hay or grazing is ideal.
Open to landowner residing on property
Yes - Yes – I am comfortable with the landowner living on the property and I am interested in a collaborative partnership.
Need farm buildings
Yes - Yes – at least a simple barn or covered area for sheep, lambing, and hay/equipment storage (basic buildings are fine).
Need fenced land
Yes - Perimeter fencing suitable for sheep and the ability to subdivide pastures with electric net fencing.
Need farm machinery and tools
Yes - Access to a shared tractor and basic implements (mower, loader, manure spreader). I will provide small hand tools and sheep-handling equipm
Need established water source and infrastructure
For a small-to-medium sheep farm (about 150–250 ewes plus lambs), I estimate needing around 3,000–5,000 litres of water per day in the summer for drinking, cleaning and basic yard use. I will need a reliable, year-round water source (well or municipal), with buried water lines, several frost-free hydrants, and 3–4 stock troughs (400–600 L each) with float valves in the main paddocks. I would also like a 5,000–10,000 L storage tank as backup and simple drainage around troughs to keep the pens dry and safe.
Production type

- Hay & Forage -
Will acquire commercial insurance
Yes - Yes – I am willing to obtain commercial general liability insurance and list the landowner as additionally insured once we have a land use/partnership agreement in place.
