General farming (3 years+) - We have grown food in my backyard and at a farm for many years. We grew for personal use but also for donating to the food bank. The farm we used was made available to us by a good friend who had land on Barnston island but sadly, this is no longer available to us. we are terrific land stewards, we use sustainable methods , no chemicals of any kind. My son (27) is in the third year of his bachelor of Horticulture at Kwantlen University so we have some really smart help.
Other experience/agricultural/business training - I am a bookkeeper and my friend Claire is newly retired. We are fit and healthy and want to keep active, grow garlic to start. other veggies too hopefully to share with people/foodbank etc. Keeping young through this retirement gardening

Farm Project Description
We have the garlic seed ready to plant now. We grew our seed over many years and now have about 2500 garlic seed to be planted this year. It will be harvested every July and planted every November. In addition we would like to be able to grow protein veggies like beans if space is available, to donate the the food bank, or to share with locals, friend, people who need it. We do succession planting, after the garlic comes out we have trays of plants ready to go in the ground for a second crop that we start months earlier. We do beans, cucumbers, squash, corn, and more, depending on the soil attributes, access to water. after the second planting we compost and amend the soil best we can and then plant garlic again in November. We are two very energetic ladies who have help family if we need it, but we are small and hope to keep it small and mangeable.
