Our project focuses on establishing a small-scale, diversified farm that combines flower production, seasonal vegetable cultivation and with waterfowl-based pest control. The goal is to create a sustainable, low-impact agricultural system that enhances soil health and increases biodiversity. We plan to cultivate a variety of cut flowers—such as dahlias, zinnias, sunflowers and perennials alongside market vegetables. By interplanting flowers and vegetables, we aim to support beneficial insects, improve pollination, and maximize productive use of land throughout the growing season. We integrate ducks and geese not only as a natural pest management solution but also as an additional farm product. Waterfowl are highly effective at controlling slugs, insects and weeds without disturbing plant roots, helping maintain a balanced ecosystem. Their presence reduces the need for synthetic pesticides while their manure enriches the soil with nutrient dense fertilizer that supports regenerative growing practices. In addition to their ecological benefits, the flock contributes to the farm’s income through the sale of fresh eggs and healthy, ethically raised ducklings. This integrated approach allows us to produce high-quality flowers and vegetables while promoting environmental stewardship, animal welfare and sustainable land use. Our goal is to develop a thriving, ecologically balanced farm that serves local markets and demonstrates the value of regenerative, mixed-use agriculture.
We are willing and prepared to cultivate land provided it offers good drainage is not overly rocky and is accessible. Preference to land with existing deer/elk fencing.
