Do you have a business plan?
Yes - Yes. I have a simple, phased business plan focused on starting a small-scale egg and greens operation with gradual growth. The plan outlines startup costs, basic infrastructure, flock size, seasonal vegetable production, local direct sales, and a low-risk approach in the first year, with the goal of scaling sustainably over time.
Do you have financial resources available to start your farm?
Yes - I have enough saving to start this bussiness.
Do you have access to other financial resources (such as a financial partner, loan, etc.) to start your farm?'
No
Project
Farm Name
Fraser Valley Egg & Greens Farm
Farm Project Description
This project is a small-scale, family-run egg and greens operation planned for the Fraser Valley (Abbotsford or Chilliwack area). The focus is on raising a modest number of laying hens and producing seasonal vegetables or greens, potentially with a small greenhouse, using sustainable and low-impact farming practices.
The farm will begin gradually as a side business, with careful attention to land stewardship, animal welfare, and respectful use of the property. Daily operations will be managed by a family member with practical farming and greenhouse experience, allowing the project to be well maintained while it grows at a responsible pace.
The goal is to establish a long-term, mutually beneficial relationship with a landowner who values sustainable agriculture, clear communication, and thoughtful land use. Over time, the operation may expand modestly as experience and demand grow, always with respect for the land and surrounding community.

Preferred current state of the surface of the cultivable area
Ideally, the land would already be partially cleared or previously farmed, with basic access to water and relatively level ground. However, I am flexible and open to land that requires light preparation or rehabilitation, provided it is suitable for small-scale vegetable production and poultry use.
Open to landowner residing on property
Yes
Need farm buildings
Yes - Likely we need an RV or tiny cottage on site.
Need fenced land
No
Need farm machinery and tools
Yes - Just for livestock area.
Need established water source and infrastructure
The project will require a modest and efficient water supply suitable for a small-scale egg and greens operation. Water needs would include basic poultry care and irrigation for vegetable beds or a small greenhouse. The farm will use low-volume irrigation methods such as drip lines or hand watering to minimize water use. Access to an existing water source such as a well or municipal/rural water connection would be ideal. No large-scale irrigation systems are required, and overall water usage will remain low and carefully managed.

Soil needs
I am looking for well-drained soils suitable for small-scale vegetable production and general farm use. Ideally, the soil would be loam or sandy loam, but I am flexible and open to improving soil quality over time through organic amendments, compost, and responsible soil management practices.
