Farm Project Description

The farm I have living in my brain is a regenerative 2-10 acre small scale farm. I would like to start with market veggies, orchard, apiary, and herb/medicine garden. Farmgate sales, or distribution deals through established wholesale or retail markets. An onsite kitchen to process crops into value added products i.e. Preserves, jams, ferments, goat cheese etc. In time, I would include laying hens, broiler chickens, and milk goats. Maybe raise some weaners or turkeys for seasonal markets - research Farmgate+ If a good wool market is found, sheep will also be a part of it. I want to work for myself, grow healthy foods for my family and community. Food independence is important. Having the skills to feed people is invaluable. I want to surround myself with others that share the same philosophies. I know I will be successful because I believe in my abilities and drive. I have been gaining agricultural knowledge and experience. These are valuable tools in making my farming goals, a reality. My objectives are food independence, educating children, feeding community, being a good steward of the land. If these are accomplished, I know I have succeeded. My next step is to acquire land to farm. I am not yet in a position to buy land. I have been checking for land leasing opportunities through informal neighbour conversation and young agrarian listings. In the meantime, I will continue farm work, until the opportunity arrives
