Farm Project Description

We run our family farm over on Old Kamloops Road in Vernon BC. Our family consists of Matt Field, Dayley Field and our two young children Nova (4) and Westyn (2). We have 60 acres in total on the farm (23 acres is ours and 37 acres is the inlaws) most of the property is used for hay production but we have about 12 acres we use for our cattle, chickens and horses. Unfortunately the property has been over farmed for many decades and the soil is in poor health. We have been doing rotational grazing for the past 2 years and trying to bring back the soil health. Unfortunately is has been a struggle and the yield is still too low. We have decided we need to take the animals off the property to rework the land/ reseed and give time for the land to rebound. Originally we thought we only needed to lease for 1 season but are open to 2 seasons to be able to give our land proper time to rebound before bringing on animals
