This orchard is about 20 years old. Previous to that it was bunchgrass grassland for at least several decades.

The broader land, of which the orchard is a small part is undergoing a generational change in management, and is being moved towards a regenerative subsistence farm. Cover crops are being planted and expanded, and a small livestock herd will be added this year.
