Job Overview
Under the direction of the Farm Owners/Manager, the Equipment Operator is responsible for various field operations and basic equipment maintenance. This includes all activities involved in the seeding, growing and harvesting operations.
General Duties Include:
Operate Equipment related to general farm work and the planting, growing and harvesting of crops in a safe and productive manner.
• Assist with mechanical repairs.
• Ensure equipment is stored in a clean condition, out of the weather elements if possible.
• General maintenance; fuel filling, greasing, oiling, wash and detail cleaning of cabs, updating equipment records.
• Mixing chemicals in collaboration with the Farm Manager when required
• Ensure cleanliness of all buildings and the farmyard itself (garbage disposal, cutting grass, trimming trees, etc.)
Requirements
Skills and Attributes
• Experience operating a variety of equipment related to growing and harvesting crops.
• Able to perform basic maintenance on tractors, augers, air seeders, harrows, pumps, sprayers, swathers, semis, combines, grain cart and grain vacuum, and others as required.
• Have a positive, can-do attitude.
• Enjoy working as part of a team.
• Effectively take direction from leadership.
• Approach all activities with a safety-first mindset.
• Willing to work overtime when necessary.
