Farm Project Description
Ancestral FoodWays Collective Society (AFW) is a community-based organization seeking agricultural land in the Greater Vancouver / B.C. area to grow traditional Indigenous foods, with a primary focus on corn and the Three Sisters food system (corn, beans, and squash). AFW operates a Cultural and Food Hub that provides community members with access to traditional foods and supports cultural continuity through food. We are committed to modeling Indigenous food sovereignty as a living practice and to conserving biocultural heritage through traditional seed saving and regenerative growing methods.
Our goal is to grow enough corn to supply our tortilla shop social enterprise, which generates revenue to sustain the program and create community economic opportunities. We work in close partnership with Tsleil-Waututh Nation School, Strathcona Community Centre, and the Food Justice Institute at Collingwood Neighbourhood House.
We are looking for a landholder who shares our values around sustainable, culturally grounded agriculture and who is open to a collaborative, long-term land access agreement facilitated through the B.C. Land Matching Program.
