Description and historical use of land available for farming

The land has a long history of agricultural use, primarily for cattle grazing and forage production, and also includes a fully mature 15-acre haskap orchard. In recent years, we have shifted toward rotational grazing and regenerative agriculture practices, with a focus on improving soil health, pasture quality, biodiversity and the long-term sustainability of the land. We have already seen encouraging results, including greener, healthier pastures, improved forage growth and increased biodiversity across the farm. We would like to continue building on this progress and are looking for farmers who share an interest in regenerative practices, responsible land stewardship and caring for the farm for the long term.

Long-term goal or vision for land

Our long term vision is to see the farm continue as a productive, diverse and sustainable family farming operation, with regenerative agriculture and responsible land stewardship at the heart of how the land is managed. Adjacent to the farm is our well-established seasonal cafe, located directly along a busy highway with significant passing traffic. We see strong potential for this space to evolve into a farm store while continuing to operate as a cafe and stopping point for travellers. The store could provide a direct market for beef, haskap berries and other products grown or produced on the farm, with the opportunity to expand into additional locally produced and value added products over time. We also see potential to further develop agritourism and other farm based experiences that connect people with agriculture and the land. Ultimately, we would like to find the right people who share our long term outlook and can bring their own ideas and strengths to the farm. Our goal is to continue building a resilient agricultural operation that supports future generations while maintaining and expanding the regenerative practices already underway.
