Ancient Origins Medicinals is a Vancouver Island-based medicinal herb business, currently based in the Sahtlam area. We run an online retail apothecary (ancientoriginsapothecary.ca) selling herbal tinctures and smoke medicines, a herbalism clinic through Jane App, and wholesale/practitioner sales to other herbalists, alongside our own farm. We currently grow medicinal herbs across two garden sites, supplying raw plant material directly into our tinctures, smoke medicines, and other products, supplemented by herbs from outside growers. Crop selection reflects professional herbalism practice and what our apothecary and clinic actually use, not speculative growing. Volunteers and workaway helpers support the farm work, and we run hands-on teaching around herb cultivation, harvesting, and processing as part of that. We're seeking a small plot (under 2 acres) through Young Agrarians' land-linking program, located closer to Duncan, to replace our current, more remote growing site. A Duncan-area plot would shorten the distance to where we process, package, and ship product, and put us nearer suppliers, practitioners, volunteers, and the local herbalism community. We need land suitable for perennial and annual herb beds — good drainage, workable soil, reliable water — on a lease or land-share arrangement supporting a multi-year growing plan.
Cleared or previously cultivated land, ready for planting with minimal site prep — such as former pasture, market garden, or field crop ground with workable soil and no significant clearing needed. Room for a few addional greenhouses and a place to store tools and equipment.
